Well-Behaved PETS are VERY WELCOMED. They are members of the family too. While this is most often dogs, we also welcome cats and also from time to time some of the kid's special pets in their travel cages too.
Pet charge: $10 per day per pet.
Maximum of 2 pets per cabin is our standard policy.
TOWELS FOR A WET PET AND OLD BEDCOVERS to protect the white heirloom bed covers, are readily available if you need any. We are happy to supply them. If we know you use them from year to year, we attempt to have them ready for you. But sometimes, in the rush of the season, we do forget, so just ask the office or the housekeepers.
**Dear Teal Lake Guest... please send us pictures of your 4-legged friends vacation at Teal Lake. We seem to only have pictures of Labs, and would like to start an album of all shapes, sizes, types (cats too) who come to Teal Lake. Click to view our NEW Photo Album of 4 legged visitors to Teal Lake!
RULES, REGS., AND CUSTOMS ... (not many!)
HOUSEKEEPING: We ask that you make arrangements with the office or directly with the housekeepers for an arranged time. Even the friendliest pets can get territorial when away from home, and have the obligation to defend their new home, so we prefer to know when you will be in, or when they will be caged.
PICKUP of #2 is now common practice in most cities and urban environments, and we ask that this practice continue around the main buildings, in the center of the resort, and around cabins. However, there are major walking paths just across the highway into the forest where your pet is welcome to help fertilize the forest when out for a walk.
LEASH is preferable around the Main Lodge. Even the best-trained pets react when confronted with our resident animals if there is a territorial question. Also, we have no control over how both visiting pets and visiting children will interface with each other. Please keep them leashed near others, and especially at the center of the resort.
SWIMMING: yes, of course they can! In the lake, at any time. And they will probably be joined by the resort dogs in chasing sticks. However, a Wisconsin state law does prohibit any and all animals within the fence at the swimming pool, no matter how small. So, please help us tow the line of the law on this.
CAGES are not required to be in the cabins. However, we do appreciate when people do use them. Our own dogs are familiar with the fact that the cage never disappears and is never disassembled in our home, in case we need it.
RESORT DOGS: There are a few dogs that live on the resort who help with guest entertainment. Please do not feed our dogs, at least not much! Some people bring them dog biscuits and other treats, but they do better when they are on regular and routine feedings. Sometimes there is no control, but a bit of bacon off your breakfast plate is better than a sweet roll, and a dog biscuit from the cookie jar in the office is better than either! RESORT DOGS SLEEP AT HOME! It is very important that our dogs come back to home base (their owners would miss them!) so if a dog is in your cabin, please limit it to HALF AN HOUR! We have found through the years that this is a satisfying time for the kids to have a pet in their cabin, and also a satisfying visiting time for the dog. We have reports that they seem to get up and go to the door as if they had a watch! Please do not keep them in longer, and please be sure they come home by CURFEW TIME, 10 P.M.!
