One can also find bikes of all sizes and wheel count, near the Main Lodge. The tricycles, wagons, and bikes technically live under the big pine tree, but tend to get scattered because they are for anyone and everyone to use, at no charge.
Kids enjoy riding the bikes around the circle drive by the Main Lodge while parents enjoy the second cup of coffee or before dinner. They are also popular modes of transport when the teenager gets sent back to the cabin for the camera. For those who want to go for a longer ride, the roads on property are about 2 miles and are packed gravel.
Our bikes are not modern ten speeds, just simple fun for all ages. There is about twenty of them, from little bikes with banana seats, to dirt bikes, to adult bikes, to sturdy John Deere green tricycles (yes, built as sturdy as a tractor!). Guest also love the double tandem bikes, popular with giggly honeymooners, strong teenagers and parents who want to take the little kids for a ride. The painted wagons are great for hauling the little sister around. All are available at no charge; we just ask that they be brought back when you are done riding them, so someone else can enjoy them.
We do not provide safety equipment so please bring your own bike helmets, etc.
For the more serious biker, there are bike rentals in Hayward and the Birkie trail. If you bring your own bike, there is great biking just 2 miles down the highway on Mogramago ski trail. |
