Apostle Islands National Lakeshore

Wisconsin's northernmost landscape juts out into Lake Superior as the scenic archipelago known as the Apostle Islands. The national lakeshore includes 21 islands and 12 miles of mainland Lake Superior shoreline, featuring pristine stretches of sand beach, spectacular sea caves, remnant old-growth forests, resident bald eagles and black bears, and the largest collection of lighthouses anywhere in the National Park System. .

BAYFIELD MARITIME MUSEUM
Presenting 150 years of Bayfield's maritime heritage!

Madeline Island
Located in Lake Superior off Wisconsin¹s North Coast, it is the largest of the Apostle Island chain. It is 14 miles long and 3 miles wide. It is the only one of the islands with commercial development.

Madeline Island Historical Museum
Today, exhibits of rare and one-of-a-kind artifacts, most of them found on Madeline Island or one of the surrounding islands that dot Chequamegon Bay, tell the whole story of the area's exploration and settlement, from prehistory to the present day. Prehistoric relics from the days of Ojibwe habitation rest alongside trade goods, missionaries' effects, tools of the lumbering and maritime industries, and other remnants of the island's human presence.

Madeline Island Ferry Line
Located at the gateway to the Apostle Islands on the south shore of Lake Superior in Northern Wisconsin, Madeline Island Ferry Line provides passenger, bicycle and car transportation between the picturesque towns of LaPointe and Bayfield.

Lake Superior Big Top Chautauqua
"Lake Superior Big Top Chautauqua is Wisconsin's most unique venue - a 780 seat, state-of-the-art canvas tent theater located at the base of Mt. Ashwabay ski hill near scenic Chequamegon Bay and the Apostle Islands of Lake Superior. Original Historical Musicals, well-known national performers and newcomers all share Big Top's stage during the 70-plus night summer season."

National Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame and Museum
The highlight of the museum complex is a landmark "Shrine to Anglers" which is a structure one-half city block long and four and one-half stories tall, of concrete, steel and fiberglass, hand-sculpted into the likeness of a leaping fish (Muskie). Its innards are a museum and its gaping open jaw accommodates about 20 persons or more as an observation platform. The landmark is surrounded by a quarter-acre nature pond.

MOUNTAIN BIKING
Over three hundred miles of mapped and marked trails greet the mountain bike enthusiast Developed by the Chequamegon Area Mountain Bike Association (CAMBA), the system is divided into six clusters, each with one or more trailheads.
